Now that I’ve gone back to work, our world has gotten bigger and we’ve run out of letter aliases for people on the blog. I have a system, but I literally keep it straight on scrap pieces of paper on the computer desk, so here’s the cast of characters on our blog as it stands right now. I’ll update the list as I need to.
G: Mom, Teacher, PhD student, Blogger… all at the same time
Rakicy: Dad, Runner, Prefold Diaper Wizard
Al Capone: Baby Boy born on May 12 2009. Also formerly known as Boutros and currently called Baby B by daycare friends.* We started this blog to document my pregnancy with him.
Ms. Becca: Childcare provider who runs a daycare out of her home.**
Mr. Jim: Ms. Becca’s husband. He loves photography and takes pictures for the kids’ cubbies.
Ms. Megan: Ms. Becca’s college-aged daughter who sometimes helps out at daycare.
Mark: The boss. He’s 3 and keeps tabs on everybody and everything. He waits at the window and watches for Al Capone every morning.
Jacob: The Tornado. He’s 18 months and can destroy a room in 30 seconds.
Eva: She’s four and holds her own in a house full of boys.
Olivia: She’s 2 1/2 and only comes on T/R, but loves babies. She’s tiny, but a major talker. She loves to just stare at Al Capone.
Grandma and Grandpa: Rakicy’s parents
Nana and Papa***: G’s parents
C^2: G’s sister and Al Capone’s Godmother
D and F: G’s brother and sister-in-law
Meme and Bop: G’s grandparents
*They use his real name. If I were to write this out, it would actually be run together as one word because that’s how they say it.
**I hate the term babysitter because it really belittles what she does. This is her profession. She has a degree in early childhood education and while she may run her daycare from home instead of a big center, she has a curriculum and objectives. She’s definitely not a teenager who watches tv while parents are out.
***I’m not sure that these are 100% set and the spelling tends to vary.
