October, 2009:

One Year Ago…

One year ago, Al Capone looked like this…He was 1.7 cm long
Today he’s approximately 40x bigger and looks like this. One year ago, only a handful of people even knew that I was pregnant and those who knew were sworn to secrecy. Today, friends old and new follow Al Capone’s adventures.

One year ago, I ate only Cracked Pepper Triscuits and canned pineapple. Today, Al Capone is getting ready to start solid foods.

One year ago, we were just learning about cloth diapers and I was pretty sure that I was going to breastfeed. Today I’m fully committed and passionate about both of those decisions.

One year ago, Al Capone was a blip on the screen, and today he is a 5 month old baby. I can’t believe how fast the last year has gone.

5 Months Old

We’re a little late on this month’s update because we’ve all been battling a cold that Rakicy seems to have brought home. This month our major accomplishment has been a schedule of sorts. Now that Al Capone is settled in a daycare, our days (daycare and non-daycare) are much more predictable. He’s officially switched to a two nap schedule. He occasionally needs an extra nap in early evening if he doesn’t take good naps at daycare, but most of the time on those days, he just goes to bed at 6:30 instead of 7:00. He still eats every 2 hours or so during the day, but generally sleeps for about 12 hours between feedings at night.
I haven’t taken a 5 month portrait yet because I was hoping to have his snotty nose clear up a little. We’re going to the pumpkin patch this afternoon with Nanna and Papa, so hopefully we’ll get a good picture then.
