Wordless Wednesday: Cousin Eddie

You Know It’s Cold When…

Baby drool freezes on contact.

In case you’re wondering at what temperature baby drool freezes quickly, my best estimate would be at around -3.3 F.

How might I know this? Capone got frozen into his carseat this morning.

I very carefully dressed him in layers, then put on his almost too small snowsuit, then wrapped him in a thick blanket and ran him the 15 feet to the garage to load him in the car for daycare.

At some point, he drooled all over the carseat buckle. This is not really surprising, so I didn’t think to wipe it off the buckle before I slid it together. (As a side note, I’m really glad he was too bundled to chew on the buckle like he usually does or we might have been reliving our own version of A Christmas Story only with a carseat instead of a light pole. )

We drove the 5 minutes to daycare and I opened the door to get him out. The buckle was frozen solid. I could get the non-drooled on side unhooked, but the right side was stuck.

Drool Emergency 101 solution: take off your gloves, hold buckle with both hand and try and breathe on it (while baby tries to eat your hair). Constantly tug on it because if drool will freeze the buckle shut, steamy breath will freeze too.

P.S. Christmas pictures and post will be coming soon. I just got them downloaded this morning.
