I was supposed to be entering grades last night, but instead I was at a Twitter Party for DiaperShops.com #9th birthday.  And that hour of procrastination turned out to be worth it.

The party had just started and I was trying to multitask (i.e. tweet and grade and watch Bones) and then my Tweetgrid went nuts.  I got so many tweets so fast that it froze.

This is why…

I am so excited to try out the new iPad.  Mostly because our current laptop is dying a slow death and we have never been the type to spend much money on electronics.  We don’t buy new gadgets, we wait until the price comes down and we are the only people left who haven’t upgraded.  Case in point, we’ve only had texting plans for about a year and a half.

Anyway back to the Twitter party and this wondeful gift.  We’ve been wonderfully blessed by this and other cloth diaper giveaways and contests.  We’ve won a few diapers, some diaper rash cream, etc and honestly have gotten to try products that we wouldn’t have otherwise purchased either because of need or cost.

So I’m going to pay it forward.  (more…)

Buttons and Columns and Code, Oh My…

I realize I’m really late to the make a button for your blog party, but I decided last week that I was going to finally jump on board.  It was not hard, but the “grab my code” part has been absolutely frustrating.  Every example I found made the text box too big for my sidebar.  This morning I finally figured it out, so I’m posting the directions in case anyone else wants to know how to change the width and height of the “grab my button” code box.

First you need to make a button.  We don’t have Photoshop, so I had put off doing this thinking anything I made would look cheap. (more…)

Site Changes

Over the weekend, we bought server space and moved the blog, so it is now self-hosted.  I think we have most of the content switched over, but there are a few changes that may be important for some readers.

  • Bookmarks:  We changed domains a while before we moved the blog to self-hosted, but the old domain redirect automatically.  It no longer does.  Please make sure that you have updated your bookmarks with the correct url: www.dontpatthbelly.com.  If you subscribe in a reader, your feed with automatically update.
  • Comments: You no longer need to sign-in to comment.  The new comment structure asks for your name and email address (website is optional).  Your email address is only visible to us and is required in order to comment
  • Moderation:  Comments from new users will be held until they are approved by an administrator, but once you have had an approved comment, your future comments will be automatically published.
  • Old Content:  We’ve moved all of the old posts and comments to the new blog, but some posts and/or comments didn’t import correctly.  Specifically, if you commented on the old blog, the new blog may not recognize your user name or link to your account/webpage.
