As excited as Capone is about his new sibling, I am still worried about jealousy and sibling rivalry when the baby actually gets here. We’ve talked a lot about the new things that he is getting…specifically a new big boy train room that is bigger since the baby will need the baby furniture, but as we get closer to the baby’s arrival, I’ve noticed that conversation turns more to the new baby when we are talking to friends and relatives.
One of the projects, I wanted to get done before the baby gets here was to figure out a way to tell our visitors in a non-tacky way to make sure and not ignore Capone in all the new baby excitement. I saw someone who had a sign regarding this when I was pregnant with Capone, but it was in the days before Pintrest, so alas I couldn’t find it anywhere.
So I opened up Publisher, threw together a background on BgPatterns, and made my own sign. I made my paper size 8×10, so as soon as we settle on a name, I’ll send it off to Sam’s Club to be printed for a very reasonable $1.46 per 8×10 print. Actually at that price, I may print multiple versions with our top names and then we don’t even have to decide on the name before we get to the hospital, which is a very real possibility. My plan is to put it in a page protector and tape it to our hospital door and then our front door when we come home, so that there’s no missing the message.
When Capone and I were talking about the sign this morning, he was more excited that he was in charge of hand-washing than he was about the fact that he would get to introduce “Bunny” to the visitors. (I actually threw that part in there as a friendly reminder since I had flashbacks of people getting so excited to pick up Capone that they often by passed the hand-washing.)
My original idea involved making this out of scrapbooking paper and that would still work, but then I discovered how cheap 8×10 prints were and decided it wasn’t worth the trip to Hobby Lobby and the cutting and pasting.
